Sage/Nutrient Depletion:
  • LipidsLipids: In healthy human study, sage tea lowered plasma total cholesterol after two weeks of treatment (59).
  • GlucoseGlucose: In animal study, sage lowered plasma glucose, increased hepatocyte sensitivity to insulin, and inhibited gluconeogenesis in vitro, but had no effect on glucose clearance (107; 108; 109).
